The soft-sided Field Storage Case by SAM Medical is utilized for the SAM IO Intraosseous Access System, and helps to safely store and protect all components of the SAM IO in one easy carrying case.
This bright orange, easily distinguishable case is constructed of durable weather resistant nylon with a dual zipper enclosure and sturdy handle. It can securely accommodate the SAM IO Driver, multiple Needle Packs, Needle Adapter, and Stabilizer Assembly. This case utilizes velcro straps and a mesh zipper pocket to conveniently display all components inside for quick, easy access in an emergency.

Field Storage Case for the SAM IO System

The SAM IO System from SAM Medical is a manually operated intraosseous access system. SAM IO’s innovative design incorporates the patented multi-use manually operated driver, which does not rely on battery power for operation. The ergonomic driver design supports quick and intuitive application, while offering a tactile feel for precise needle placement.

The body of the SAM IO Driver is made of polycarbonate material, which was specifically chosen for its durable characteristics, and has been certified under United States Military Standard (MILSTD) 810G testing for durability and harsh environment use. The driver has been tested and cleared for over 10,000 actuations.

Catheter placement is achieved by continuously actuating (repeatedly compressing) the driver’s trigger assembly while gently guiding the device’s needle assembly into position. Repeated, full trigger actuation creates rotational spin of the needle assembly which, when combined with gentle downward pressure, results in controlled IO placement. Once the needle assembly is properly positioned, the stylet is removed to expose a standard Luer-lock for extension set connection. Once the extension set is connected, aspiration verification, flushing and selected treatment or treatments may then commence.

The SAM IO system is designed to be intuitive for current IO users, featuring clearly visible color coding and depth indicators which match industry norms.
The SAM IO is designed for effective IO placement in both adult and pediatric patients. It is important to note that when determining the anatomical site and needle length for intraosseous access, patient age and physiology should be considered per protocol or standard, and on a case by case basis based on one’s clinical judgement. The SAM IO is not intended for sternal application.

This case is specifically designed to store the SAM IO System. Penn Care also carries the SAM IO Training Kit Case for the SAM IO Training Kit (which is ONLY for training purposes). Neither of these cases include any of the materials from the SAM IO Training Kit or the SAM IO System.
