In an emergency situation, effectiveness and mobility are key to EMS personnel delivering treatment to victims. Unlike other EMS packs, StatPacks Bags are designed with the needs of firefighters, EMTs and other medical personnel in mind.
StatPacks Bags allow the wearer to work with both hands while still keeping essential emergency medical equipment close by. Keep reading to find out more about StatPacks Bags and why they are a fantastic EMS backpack for any emergency crew.
A Quality Medic Backpack
StatPacks was founded in 2002 with the mission of designing and constructing high-end medical bags, first aid bags, and trauma bags for firefighters and first responders. They are a fusion of knowledge from the sports and mountaineering equipment industry, combined with the real needs of EMS workers out on the front lines. StatPacks bags combine rugged, high-tech construction, common sense organizational features, and practicality to deliver the ultimate medic backpacks and gear bags.
StatPacks has been working with the same manufacturer of their bags since the company’s inception. They are proud to have built close relationships with sales representatives and distributors, but also with medical professionals in the industry who rely on StatPacks every day when they’re out working to save lives.
Bursting With Features
The strength of StatPacks Bags starts out with their construction. The primary body of StatPacks Bags are constructed of high strength tarpaulin material. It has a urethane coating to protect the bag and the user from bloodborne pathogens, and also makes it simple and easy to clean. The urethane coating also protects the bag from both the elements and everyday wear and tear. All StatPacks Bags (except for tactical black) feature reflective material for added visibility in low light situations.
Foam molded shoulder straps help evenly distribute the load of a full pack of medical equipment, reducing strain on the shoulders and back. They also allow for full range of shoulder motion so that the wearer isn’t limited while trying to administer care or transfer a patient (but remains secure enough that there’s no risk of the StatPacks bag falling off during movement). Additional ergonomic padding on the back of the StatPacks bag reduces the chance of any sore spots if the bag has to be worn for an extended period.
StatPacks and the Modular System
One of the most unique features of the Statpacks Bags’ design is their modular system. In addition to the bags themselves, StatPacks also has “cells” available that fit into their bags. Instead of opening the bag and sifting through the contents trying to find a certain piece of equipment (or having to go through multiple pockets), the wearer can clearly see each cell in the bag’s main compartment and select the right one for the situation.
If a patient needs an IV line, there’s the G3 intravenous cell. Or if a patient needs airway management, there’s the G3 airway cell or G3 quickroll intubation kit. There’s even the G3 oxygen module that can accommodate a size D oxygen cylinder. The cells come in many sizes and functions so that medical personnel can customize their bags as they see fit, or grab cells according to the situation.
The interior of all StatPacks Bags are foam lined to protect the contents from breakage during transport or movement. Velcro strips on the inside hold cells in place and also any other medical equipment that is velcro compatible.
The Right Bag For Every Situation
StatPacks excels with the sheer variety of bags that they offer. All of their bags have different configurations depending on the wearer’s needs.
The G3 Medslinger is a sling-style bag as opposed to a more traditional two-strap backpack. It can be put on and removed quickly and comfortably, and its low-profile nature makes it perfect for EMS personnel stationed at a concert or other event. Keep in mind, though, that its small size makes it more appropriate for first aid and basic life support (BLS) functions.
At the other end of the spectrum, there is the G3 Backup, with a full harness system to keep the bag in place when dealing with flights of stairs, rough terrain, or other hard to reach sites. It’s large enough to contain an oxygen canister or automated external defibrillator (AED) or up to three of StatPacks cells. This bag is geared toward advanced life support (ALS) functions.
If space is an issue but a medic must have the widest array of equipment possible, there is the G3 Golden Hour. This bag is the solution for those working in helicopters or fixed wing aircraft. The bag’s wide mouth provides access to cells or meds without any digging or searching, thus allowing the whole bag to operate as a first aid kit.
A great all-around bag for any purpose is the G3 QuickLook AED. This compact bag is not only perfect for those in the medical profession, but also civilians who want to have a place for a universal kit. The G3 Quicklook comes with removable pouches that allow the bag to fit most AEDs, or an M6-style oxygen container.
Some other popular options include the G3 Tidal Volume, the First Aid Quickroll Intubation, the G3 Clinician, and the StatPacks G3 Circulatory Kit. Certain models come with an additional shoulder strap for added stability.
StatPacks feature a number of available colors, such as red, blue, green and tactical black. Keep in mind that not all colors are available for every style of bag.
