The SurgiLance® Safety Lancet by MediPurpose is used for convenient micro blood sampling, offering simplicity and single-use safety for healthcare professionals as well as patients. Its design protects users from accidental needle stick injury and the unique one-step activation mechanism makes it extremely simple and reliable to use. The SurgiLance Safety Lancet is suited for all kinds of blood collection and sampling, such as diabetic glucose testing. Other testing applications include HIV, Hepatitis, A1c hemoglobin, and HgB.

Using the MediPurpose Safety Lancet for Fingerstick

To use the SurgiLance Safety Lancet, first clean the test site with isopropyl alcohol and allow the area to dry completely. Then remove the protective cap from the safety lancet. Push the lancet gently against the skin of the test area to activate. After the needle or blade has penetrated the skin, massage the test site to start blood flow. In order to keep the lancet sterile, do not push the device’s raised red button onto the testing site until ready to collect the blood sample.

After usage, SurgiLance Safety Lancets are automatically rendered inoperative, reducing the possibility of cross contamination and providing added safety for both patient and clinician. Color coding helps users to easily recognize blade or needle depth of penetration. After the lancet has been activated and the blood sample has been collected from the patient, lancets become inoperative and cannot be reused. They can be safely disposed of in sharps containers for biohazard waste and other types of used medical products.
