Introducing the SAM IO Training Case by SAM Medical, a storage case made specifically for the SAM IO Intraosseous Access (IO) Training System.

This nylon carrying case includes elastic loops for storing needles, along with attachment points for the driver once you've removed these items from their original packaging. The main compartment has a divider that includes a mesh pouch on the underside for storing additional loose pieces such as the needle adaptor.

The SAM IO Training Kit from SAM Medical is a manually operated intraosseous access training system. SAM IO’s innovative design incorporates a patented multi-use manually operated driver, which does not rely on battery power for operation. The ergonomic driver design supports quick and intuitive application, while offering a tactile feel for precise needle placement. The body of the SAM IO Driver is made of polycarbonate material, which was specifically chosen for its durable characteristics, and has been certified under United States Military Standard (MILSTD) 810G testing for durability and harsh environment use.

The SAM IO Training Kit is not for use on humans and is intended for training purposes only. This storage bag helps to keep all training kit materials organized and in good operating condition.

When using the SAM IO Training Kit, catheter placement is achieved by continuously actuating (repeatedly compressing) the driver’s trigger assembly while gently guiding the device’s needle assembly into position. Repeated, full trigger actuation creates rotational spin of the needle assembly which, when combined with gentle downward pressure, results in controlled IO placement. Once the needle assembly is properly positioned, the stylet is removed to expose a standard Luer-lock Once the extension set is connected, aspiration verification, flushing and selected treatment or treatments may then commence.

The SAM IO Training Kit is designed for effective training of IO placement in both adult and pediatric patients. It is important to note that when determining the anatomical site and needle length for intraosseous access, patient age and physiology should be considered per protocol or standard, and on a case by case basis based on one’s clinical judgement.

This case can be used to store the SAM IO Training Kit from SAM Medical. Penn Care also carries the SAM IO Field Storage Case for the SAM IO system itself. Neither of these cases include any of the materials from the SAM IO Training Kit or the SAM IO System.
