We would like to congratulate the South Central Fire District in Fredericksburg, Ohio on their new Braun Chief XL Chevy G4500 ambulance from Penn Care. The South Central Fire District was recently established as a joint fire district between Fredericksburg and Franklin Township and is headed up by Chief Butch Spielman. Penn Care sales rep David Yobe worked in cooperation with Chief Spielman in order to provide a very customized ambulance that offers many unique features not typically found in an emergency vehicle.

1. On the streetside wall, the cabinet above the action area is much larger than standard cabinets, and the cabinet to the right of it is a double door cabinet, also built to be larger and offer more storage capacity.

2. The MasterTech III display is mounted on a swivel unit, allowing easy access from the CPR seat or the Action Area seat.

3. The CPR seat in this ambulance is wider than standard CPR seats and provides more room and maneuverability for the crew.

4. Next to the CPR seat are two lockable sliding drawers with easy push-button access.

5. The curbside wall has another customized cabinet that is padded on all sides and allows for additional storage.

6. Directly below the cabinet is a customized waste receptacle that can be accessed from three sides.

7. On the back of the ambulance, there are two specialized loading lights which shine down directly on the patient loading area, providing greater visibility in the dark.

8. Customized graphics featuring Freddie, the local high school mascot have been added to give the vehicle a distinctive look.

This vehicle is also unique because it is the first ambulance that Penn Care has built with dual rumblers. Rumblers work in conjunction with the sirens to create a low-frequency bass tone that penetrates and shakes solid materials, allowing vehicle operators and nearby pedestrians to FEEL the sound waves, and perhaps even see their effects through a shaking rear view mirror. This new technology provides a more advanced warning and can help to increase safety for the patient, crew, motorists and pedestrians alike.

The South Central Fire District’s ambulance is a great example of how Penn Care can work with your organization to create an emergency vehicle that is customized to meet your needs. We would like to thank Chief Spielman and the South Central Fire District for their dedication to public safety and for their purchase of this one-of-a-kind Braun Chief XL.
